Domestic Passenger Information
 
RESERVATIONS: Reservations for any China Southern Airlines domestic flight may be made either by telephone, fax or via e-mail from any of the airlines' booking offices or authorized ticket agents. Airline ticketing should be completed once seats are reserved as failure to do so may result in cancellation of the reservation.

TRAVEL DOCUMENTS: When ticketing or during check-in, China's mainland citizens need to present their identity cards. Foreigner travelers, Chinese citizens from Hong Kong and Macau, Taiwan or other countries should be prepared to present their passports or other valid travel documents. Birth Certificates should be used for children under age of 16.

RECONFIRMATION: China Southern Airlines recommends that travelers contact the airline to reconfirm their flight. Passengers are required to reconfirm their continuing or return flight(s) no late than noon - two days prior to the scheduled departure of the continuing or return flights - if passengers stay at the continuing or return points for more than 72 hours. Failure to reconfirm flights will result in the cancellation of any onward or return reservations.

TICKET: A ticket is the document issued by or on behalf of the Carrier and constitutes the contract of carriage between the carrier and the passenger. A ticket is also a certificate for passengers to check-in baggage and travel by air.
Tickets should be kept clean and undamaged and used only by the passenger. Tickets that are transferred, altered or mutilated will be treated as invalidated and void.

PERIOD OF VALIDITY: The period of validity for air tickets, issued for one way, round trip or circle trip fares, is one year from the date of the commencement of the flight, or, if no portion of the ticket is used, from the date of issuance thereof. If a ticket is issued on an excursion or special fare, a shorter period of validity shall be applied in accordance with such excursion or special tariff’s conditions.

FARE: Fare is the air transportation charge from the airport of origination to the airport of destination only. Children over 12 years of age or adults shall pay full fare. Accompanied children under 12 years of age but over two years of age shall pay 50% of full fare. Infants under two years of age - not occupying a separate seat and accompanied by an adult - shall pay 10% of the full fare. One infant paying 10% of the full fare shall be granted to one adult only. An unaccompanied minor or infant occupying a separate seat is required to pay 50% of the full fare.

LOST TICKETS:
When an airline ticket is lost or stolen, passengers should immediately file a report with local law enforcement and contact China Southern Airlines through its nearest office or authorized agent. The carrier shall not be liable to the purchaser or passenger named on the ticket hereof provided that the ticket is falsely honored or refunded by any person other than the one named hereon.Refunds may be made upon receipt of satisfactory proof to the carrier or refused by the carrier for reasons thereof in accordance with the carrier's articles and regulations.

CHECK-IN: Passengers should arrive at China Southern Airlines’ticket counter and/or boarding gate sufficiently in advance of the flight departure to complete check-in formalities which include obtaining boarding passes and security inspections.
Check-in counters are generally closed 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure.

MODIFICATIONS: Alterations may be made to the "Carrier", "Flight", "Booking Class","Date" and "Time" sections in the "Good For Passage" area of the flight coupon(s) and the corresponding passenger coupon, provided that no change of fare is involved, the required seat is available and (if required) official carrier endorsement has been obtained.

REFUNDS: Refunds (except discounted-fare ticket and group refunds) are divided into two categories: Voluntary and Involuntary. Voluntary refunds will pay the applicable service and communication charges by the Carrier in accordance with the time of refund made. Prior to 24 hours before departure of schedule, a 5% reduction of the paid fare will be levied. Within 24 to two hours before departure of the flight schedule, a 10% reduction will be levied and two hours prior to departure of the scheduled flight, a 20% reduction will be levied. After the departure of the flight as scheduled, a 50% reduction will be levied. No surcharges will be assessed for involuntary refunds.

NO-SHOW: Passengers, who fail to complete check-in formalities due to late arrival at the airport or because of invalid travel documents, will be considered as a no-show. Passengers may request to reroute no-show tickets depending on required space availability or refunds accordingly.

HEALTH CERTIFICATES: Subject to the rules and conditions of China Southern Airlines, any person, suffering from certain non-infectious serious disease who desires to travel by air, he/she must submit in advance to the carrier a medical certificate issued by an appropriate hospital or medial physician, prior to ticketing. The carrier is not liable for personal injury or other possible results to such passenger caused by this disease during or after flight. The carrier reserves the right to refuse to carry any person whose physical or medical conditions may pose a threat to the safety of other passengers, their property, the aircraft and/or the flight crew.
BAGGAGE: Baggage refers to passenger's articles, effects and other personal property necessary or appropriate for wear, use, comfort or convenience in connection with their trip. Unless otherwise specified, this includes both checked and unchecked baggage.

FREE BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE: The free baggage allowance (including both checked
and unchecked baggage) is determined by the class of the ticket paid (but not by the class actually traveled).

UNCHECKED BAGGAGE: Unchecked baggage must be of an appropriate size to fit in the enclosed overhead bin or beneath the seat. Each First Class passenger may carry-on two pieces and each Business or Economy Class passenger is limited to one piece only. Unchecked baggage is limited to 5kg in total weight and 20cm×40cm×55cm in dimension for each piece. Passengers may carry on up to two bottles of soft drinks or bottled water - not to exceed 1,000 ml.

CHECKED BAGGAGE: Regardless of a full or 50% of normal fare ticket, free baggage allowance of checked baggage for First Class is 40kg, Business Class is 30kg and Economy Class is 20kg. No free baggage allowance is granted to infants paying 10% of the normal fare. China Southern Airlines recommends that items needing special care should not beincluded in checked baggage. These include but not limited to: currency; jewelry; precious metals; computers; personal electronic devices; negotiable papers; securities or other valuables; business documents; passports and other identification documents or samples. The carrier's liability for the loss or damage of such articles in checked baggage is the same as other ordinary checked baggage.

PROHIBITED ITEMS: The following articles may not be carried on or be included in any checked baggage. These include but not limited to: firearms or equipment (including their main parts) used either by the armed forces or law enforcement; knives or cutting objects as prohibited by law enforcement; alcoholic drinks, explosives; flammable liquids and solids; corrosives; poisons; radioactive materials; oxidizing materials; magnetized materials; sharp and/or offensive articles which may be used to threaten the safety of flight and other items prohibited to be carried by the laws, regulations or orders of the government of The People's Republic of China. BAGGAGE LIABILITY LIMITATIONS: The carrier's liability for loss, delay, or damage to baggage is limited, unless a higher value is declared in advance and additional charge is paid. On domestic flights, the liability limitation is RMB 50.00 per kilo ($6.04 USD) for checked baggage. The total compensation(s) will be equal to the actual loss to the passenger if the loss is less than the limitation.

SECURITY: In accordance with the laws and regulations of The People's Republic of China, all passengers and baggage must pass security checks prior to boarding. China Southern Airlines retains the right to refuse to accept any passenger or baggage not checked.
DELAYED OR CANCELLED FLIGHTS: The carrier is not liable to any cancellation or delay of a flight due to circumstances beyond its control, including but not limited to: weather; Acts of God; air traffic control; emergency situations; security checks, etc. The Carrier agrees to carry the passenger to his/her final destination by all means available, including surface transportation. If the cancellation or delay of a flight is due to the reasons of the carrier, the carrier shall be not more liable to passengers than providing meals and accommodations - at no charge to the passenger - from the time of the flight cancellation or delay to the beginning of onward journey. If any passenger desires to cancel or stop the booked itinerary, involuntary refunds shall be made in accordance with Carrier's tariffs and regulations.

CARRIER'S LIABILITIY LIMITATION: For domestic service, the liability limitation of the carrier in the event of death of or personal injury is RMB 70,000 ($8,456 USD) per passenger. The total compensation(s) will be equal to actual loss to the passenger if the loss is less than the limitation.

INSURANCE: Additional protection is available to passengers by purchasing insurance from a private, third party companies. Such insurance is not affected by any liability limitation of the carrier for death or personal injury to a passenger.
WARNING: In accordance with the law and regulations of The People's Republic of China, any storage, carrying or sale of heroin, opium or hemp within China is a very serious crime.

 

Passenger Information (International Service)
RESERVATIONS: International reservations for any China Southern Airlines flight may be made either by telephone, fax or via e-mail from any of the airlines' booking offices or authorized ticket agents. Airline ticketing should be completed once seats are reserved. Failure to do so may result in cancellation of the reservation.

TRAVEL DOCUMENTS: Passengers needs to obtain the appropriate passport, visa and other travel documents in advance of the entry, exit, or transit (if required) to nearly every destination country in the world. The Carrier reserves the right to refuse carriage of any passenger who has not complied with such requirements by the countries concerned or whose documents do not appear to in order for entry, exit or transit.

RECONFIRMATION: China Southern Airlines always recommends that travelers contact the airline to reconfirm their flight(s). Passengers are required to reconfirm their onward or return flight no later than 72 hours before the scheduled departure of the continuing or return flight(s), if the passengers stay at the continuing or return points for more than 72 hours. Failure to reconfirm flights will result in the cancellation of any onward or return reservations.

Exemption: Passengers holding confirmed China Southern tickets on CAN-SYD/MEL, CAN-LAX, CAN-AMS v.v. routes and the continuing or onward flights on China Southern Airlines, are not required to reconfirm if their Passenger Name Record (PNR) displays a valid ticket number and/or arrival flight details.

Infants under 2 years of age, not occupying a separate seat and accompanied by an adult, pay 10% of the normal adult fare. One infant paying 10% of the normal adult fare shall be granted to an adult only. Infant occupying a separate seat is required to pay applicable children fare.

Refunds for lost tickets may be subject to applicable service and communication charges assessed by Carrier.

CHECK-IN: Passengers should arrive at China Southern Airlines’ ticket counter and/or boarding gate sufficiently in advance of the flight departure to complete check-in formalities which include but not limited to: obtaining boarding passes, security inspections, etc.
Generally check-in counters are closed 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure.

Voluntary refunds will pay the applicable service charges and communication expenses but no any charge will be assessed for an involuntary refund.
Refunds shall be made at the original ticketing office or by an authorized agent of China Southern Airlines.

Weight: For adults and the children who pay a certain percentage of the adult fare, the free baggage allowance is 40kg for First Class, 30kg for Business Class, and 20kg for Economy Class. The free baggage allowance for infants not entitled to a seat is 10kg, plus one checked or carry on fully collapsible stroller/pushchair or infant’s carrying basket or infant’s car seat which may be carried in the passenger cabin subject to the availability of space.

Piece: The piece concept applies to carriage to/from the United States or Canada. The free baggage allowance for adults (including the children) who are entitled to travel in First and Business Class is two pieces, for which the sum of the three dimensions must not exceed 158cm (62in.) for each piece. The free baggage allowance for passengers who are entitled to travel in Economy Class is two pieces, for which the sum of the three dimensions must not exceed 158cm (62in.) for each piece and the overall dimensions of the two pieces measured together must not exceed 273cm(107in.). The maximum weight of any piece of the checked baggage as set out above must not exceed 32kg. The free baggage allowance for infants not entitled to a seat is one checked bag (piece), the sum of the three dimensions not to exceed 115cm (45in.), plus one checked or carry on fully collapsible stroller/pushchair or infant’s carrying basket or infant’s car seat which may be carried in passenger cabin subject to the availability of space.
Any baggage in excess of baggage allowance by piece, dimension or weight will be charged accordingly.
China Southern Airlines recommends that items needing special care should not beincluded in checked baggage. These include but not limited to: currency; jewelry; precious metals; computers; personal electronic devices; negotiable papers; securities or other valuables; business documents; passports and other identification documents or samples, etc.
The Carrier's liability for the loss or damage of such articles in checked baggage is the same as other ordinary checked baggage.

UNCHECKED BAGGAGE:
Unchecked baggage in which a passenger carries onto the aircraft must fit under the seat in front of the passenger or in an enclosed storage compartment within the cabin. The sum of the three dimensions of such unchecked bags must not exceed 115cm (45in.) and maximum weight must not exceed 5kg.
Passengers may carry on up to two bottles of soft drinks or bottled water - not to exceed 1,000 ml.
Objects not suitable for transportation in the cargo compartment (including fragile/delicate items) will only be accepted for transportation in the cabin compartment if due notice has be given in advance and permission granted by the Carrier. The transportation of such objects may be charged separately.

For International travel, including domestic portions of International service, the liability limitation is $20.00 USD per kilo for checked baggage and $400.00 USD per passenger for unchecked baggage. The total compensation(s) will be equal to the actual loss to the passenger if the loss is less than the limitation.

SECURITY:
In accordance with the laws and regulations of The People's Republic of China, all passengers and baggage must pass security checks prior to boarding. China Southern Airlines retains the right to refuse to accept any passenger or baggage not checked.

CARRIER’S LIABILITY LIMITATIONS:
For passengers traveling to/from or having an agreed stopping place in The United States of America, the convention and special contracts of carriage provided that the liability limitation of the Carrier for death of or personal injury to each passenger is not to exceed $75,000 USD (including legal fees and costs) per passenger and that this liability up to such limit shall not depend on negligence of the carrier if any.
For passengers traveling to/from or having an agreed stopping place not in The United States of America, the liability limitation of carrier for death of or personal injury to passengers is $20,000 USD per passenger.
The total compensation(s) will be equal to the actual loss if the loss is less than limitation.
